    Grading in Brightspace

    Learn how to setup your gradebook in Brightspace. Topics to be discussed: points vs. weighted system, creating items/categories. final grade calculation and release, and display options to customize how your gradebook is organized.

    Using Brightspace Discussion Boards

    Learn how to use the Discussions tool to create a collaboration area where you can post, read and reply to messages on different topics, share thoughts, ask questions, share files, or students can work with their peers. This workshop will focus solely on the Discussion tool so instructors can gain detailed experience in how to use the tool.

    Using Brightspace Assignments

    Learn how to use the Assignments tool to create submission folders that can be graded with feedback as a commented file or as an audio/video file. This workshop will focus solely on the Assignment tool so instructors can gain detailed experience in how to use the tool.

    Save time in Brightspace with Intelligent Agents

    Intelligent Agents can assist instructors by providing an automated notification when a specific activity occurs in a course. Think of it as a cute robot minion who will send emails for you automagically! Here are just a few examples of how you can use Intelligent Agents:

    • Greet students upon first entering the class with information on the course
    • Remind students who have not submitted work that their assignments are due.
    • Check in with students who have not logged into the course within the first few weeks of the semester
    • Give a student encouragement for improving their grade after a low score.

    Photoshop - Photo Retouching Essentials

    Everything you should know to get started in Photoshop. Take a quick tour of the Photoshop interface; use Crop tool to crop and straighten images; use Clone Stamp, Healing Brush, Content-Aware Fill, and Patch tool to remove skin blemishes and red eyes; make precise selections using the Marquee Lasso tools; working with Type tool; improve tone, contrast, and color with Adjustments for non-destructive editing. 

    Photoshop - Layers and Masks Essentials

    Learn more about Photoshop's advanced features. Use layers to perform tasks such as compositing multiple images, adding text to an image, or adding vector graphic shapes. Add a mask to a layer and use the mask to hide portions of the layer and reveal the layers below. Masking layers is a valuable compositing technique for combining multiple photos into a single image or for removing a person or object from a photo.  

    Photoshop - Filters and Type Essentials

    Use filters to clean up or retouch your photos, apply special art effects that give your image the appearance of a sketch or impressionistic painting, or create unique transformations using distortions and lighting effects. Create beautiful typographic effects. Add text along a path. 

    InDesign - Layout Essentials with Text and Graphics

    Get your InDesign project off to the right start by configuring the settings for print or onscreen use. Learn about the primary tools you will interact with when you first launch InDesign. Build your layout using frames that you can move, adjust, and fill with either text or graphics. Create Master Pages to maintain consistent layout and elements. Master pages allow you to place recurring items like page numbers, footers, or headers on multiple pages throughout your document automatically.
