Frequently Asked Questions
What is an Acceptable Use Policy? And why do we need one?
An Acceptable Use Policy is a broad document to establish responsibilities and acceptable conduct of users on a computer network. It restricts the ways in which the network or system may be used and sets guidelines as to how it should be used. In essence, it is a formal code of conduct for all that use the institution's computer network and systems. Institutions that provide network connectivity and/or other electronic services have acceptable use policies to protect the Institution's network from improper use as well as to protect the network's users from others.
Who is covered by LMU's AUP?
Anyone that uses the LMU network or any computer system in which a service is provided. Physical locations include the Westchester, Law School and Playa Vista campuses. Additionally, this includes those that use personal devices on the LMU wireless network. Anyone using personal devices on LMU's network is covered by LMU's Acceptable Use Agreement.
