Encryption

File Encryption

Need to encrypt a file containing sensitive or confidential data? There are two recommended options. If you have Adobe Acrobat Pro, you can encrypt (256-bit AES) a PDF with a password securing the contents of the file. A second is to use a program called Boxcryptor to encrypt various types of documents including MS Word, MS Excel, and more.

Email Encryption

If you have a need to send an encrypted email to non-LMU recipients, contact the Information Security Team via the ITS Service Desk to learn more about an email encryption service that LMU subscribes to. Due to the cost of this service, use of this tool is limited to those who need this service as part of their LMU job responsibilities.
