Technology Training

Information Technology Services (ITS) provides hands-on, instructor-led workshops in a variety of LMU's standard applications. These workshops have been carefully developed to help LMU staff, faculty, work-study students, and graduate assistants to increase work effectiveness and productivity by building job skills and gaining greater technological knowledge.

First Thursday Workshop Series for Staff

ITS is very excited to announce the First Thursday workshop series for staff starting in the summer 2024 semester, with emphasis on artificial intelligence literacy and awareness and various topics tailored for a productive workforce. The inaugural workshop was held on Thursday, July 18. Each session contains two parts:

  • Part 1 (10 am - 11 am) includes a 60-minute workshop and demo of the topics
  • Part 2 (11 am - 12 pm) is the "Ask ITS" drop-in office hour. ITS leadership will be present to answer your ITS or technology related questions, such as, process automation, summarize documents and emails using Generative AI, data privacy and security, cloud storage, project management, and more.

First Friday Workshop Series for Faculty

ITS is very excited to announce the First Friday workshop series for faculty starting in the fall 2024 semester, with emphasis on artificial intelligence literacy, awareness, tools and resources. Every first Friday of the month, get innovative insights and relevant resources from fellow instructors who are working closely with experts in the development and support community.

In partnership with Center for Faculty Development and the William H. Hannon Library, ITS will continue to update the schedule and the workshop topics to fit your needs.

AI Tools for Research and Instruction
Part 1 (11 am - 11:30 am): The Library's Reference and Instruction Department team will discuss how Generative AI impacts various aspects of academic research. Participants will learn about the key features, benefits, drawbacks, and potential applications of AI-powered tools such as Connected Papers, LitMaps, Perplexity, Research Rabbit, Consensus, Elicit, and Scite.
Part 2 (11:30 am - 12:00 pm): The ITS Instructional Technology team will discuss how AI image generation can be used for content development and critical thinking, using Adobe Firefly.
