Zoom and Echo 360 Transcriptions


Transcriptions for Echo360 recordings are controlled by the campus admin for that program. To request a transcript for an Echo360 recording, contact the ITS Service Desk at 310-338-7777 or servicedesk@lmu.edu. A Service Desk technician will open a ticket on your behalf, and you will be contacted by the Echo360 admin. 

When you contact the Service Desk, please specify whether you would like transcription of a single recording/class, or for the entire semester (i.e., if, for instance, a student in the class requires transcriptions). 


Use the Audio transcript option (under Cloud Recording) to automatically transcribe the audio of any Zoom session recorded to the cloud. After a transcript is processed, it appears as a .vtt text file in the list of recorded meetings. You have the option to display the transcript text within a video, similar to a closed caption display. Transcripts are divided into sections, each with a timestamp showing how far into the recording a portion of the text was recorded. You can edit the text to more accurately capture the words, or to add capitalization and punctuation.

NOTE: Audio transcription only supports English.
